well.. atleast i can use my 1 gallon for a fighting fish.. tsk how about 30x18x18 or 40 gallons. how many fish can i put there (maximum)? neon tetras,zebras,barbs.. the little fishes.. tnx!

i already answered in your other thread. I'm afraid you can't fit any fish into that size tank. :/
All the fish you listed need to be kept in tanks of about 10 Gallons or more.

If you consider the rule 1 inch of adult fish per gallon, then you could have 40 fish of 1 inch in your 40 gallons.

It's not scientic rule but it gives you an idea :)

Take a look at the fish index section on this forum if you want to know how big fish can grow..

Example, tiger barb can grow up to 2.5 or 3 inches which means you could have around 13 tiger barbs in your tank.

Mollies need salt and gouramis don't do well with it, so you'd have to choose between the two. Also, if you choose gouramis, you should stick with a single species as different kinds don't mix well.

It depends on which exact species you're talking about when asking if you can put the others together. Large tetras such as serpae tetras, lemon tetras, etc, should do fine with smaller barbs such as gold barbs, checkered barbs, pentazona barbs, etc. However it wouldn't be a great idea to put neons in with tiger barbs for instance.

Gouramis and barbs are a good combination, IMO. Unless you're asking about dwarf gouramis, in which case you might want to go with tetras as tankmates.

I'm not crazy about mollies because they breed so much.

you can have 1inch of fish per gallon of water
so you can have 20 2inch neon tetras or 40 ember tetras

people might disagree with me but i think it depends on filters used (within reason)

i have a eheim 2224 pro and a eheim ecco 2232 also do a 50% water change a week

but i have

45 (ish) neon tetra
5 khuli loachs
2 pepper corys
1 otto (need more as 5 died within a week so im letting my local keep them awhile before i buy)
4 red cherry shrimp
5 amano shrimp
1 yoyo loach (will be going to my aunties soon)
3 flying fox

what filter/s are you thinking of using?

chris

The 1" Inch per gallon is justa guide,

I Am Overstocked at present but i run an extra filter on top of my internal and perform weekly 30% water changes, Ive never had a problem.

As long as you have plenty of filtration and keep up on the maintance there is nothign saying you cant go to 2" of fish per gallon

mollies can be kept without salt, but ideally they prefer a small amount... ive never used salt with any of my mollies and theyre beautiful, perfect behavior, very personable fish always recognizes me and seems to be happy upon my presence :good:

I agree, but I just want to add that doesn't mean you can have a lot of large fish, either. Like your wouldn't want 4 10 inch fish, because there just isn't that much room, and a ten inch fish produces a lot more waste than 10 one inch fish.

One thing is the number of fish, the other one is the character of the fish (do they need a lot of swimming space, are they territorial etc.), and the compatibility with others.

I would say, start off slowly, with one or 2 species, and investigate compatibility and needs before adding new species.
