I decided to start a new thread as there was a lot of useless posts in the last one. (And some good ones too, thankyou). Anyway I thought I had rid the problem but on the weekend 2 more fish died. The silver shark that had the scales missing and a orange platty were KIA.(Killed in action: Don,t know if we have this abbreviation yet). I took the silver shark to the LFS and he pointed out that the silver shark had a red swollen stomach. He thinks it could be an internal parrasite which affects the float bowell (I think thats what he called it). But he wants me to keep treating for whitespot for a week or so before changing medicines. The redness on the sides of the barbs has all but gone now and the fish aren,t flashing so much. All water readings are good (0). There is still a bit of brown algae but nothing serious. I,m not sure if the fish had whitespot or something else now. There was no evidence of whitespot on the dead platty. I will keep treating for whitespot but I,m afraid the treatment is hurting the cory. He,s got red under one of his gills and he,s "doing laps" around the top of the tank. I will keep doing small water changes but the LFS guy said this would dilute the medicine. I really don,t know what else to do, any thoughts? -_-

dont worry, the water changes will do great for your fish...just add the appropriate amount of medicine(meaning, if you took 20 gallons out for a water change and the medicine tells you to add 1 drop per gallo, add 20 drops..and so on).

I wish the best for your fish!

Yes frequent water changes and the medicine will get rid of the white-spot in the tank. Also the whole stomach thing could've been a cyst (not 100% certain of course)
