Aquaessentials Sale On Tropica Plants

They do, but knocking 50% off their entire Tropica potted plant section has had a huge affect on the number of different species available :) Can't decide why they're doing it really, there must be a reason!

Hi all i can tell you why Richard at ae is selling his plants at 50% off, he keeps his plants alive during winter hydroponically(excuse spelling) but once summer comes he stops stocking them due to the heat in summer,he does not have the room for the same setup as most aquatic shops do so thats why he has the sale. regards john :good:

does this mean i wont be able to get any at the end of july?

thanks
chris

My plants arrived today, at work. Cycled home and got them all unpacked and into water during my lunch break.

I have to say, I wasn't too impressed. The plants were well packed as always, but weren't in the best of condition. A lot of snail eggs (and snails), some dead foliage etc. Some looked a little sorry for themselves. I'm going to give them a good wash tonight and maybe even bleach bath them quickly as I've got more snails than I can shake a stick at... I imagine they'll perk up fine. I assume they're the last stock hence the sale, and hence why the roots on some have started to grow out of the pots a lot.

I was disapponted with my last order from AE aswell plants were no different from the ones in my lfs but were double the price so never bought from there again. Placed an order with greenline yesterday which will be here tomorrow and no doubt the quality will be exellent.

i was quite angry with them cuz they wouldnt post me another pot of marsilea hirsuta there was 3 stems in the whole pot and they were rooting aswell...

Wow... Some mixed reviews on this thread, but the majority haven't been happy with the quality... or service! I was very happy with my plants, decor and equipment that I bought from AE not all that long ago... :good:

I was really happy with my first order, and this is my second. I think this sale is clearing old stock as was said earlier in the post, so I guess you could expect some less than perfect specimens.

I think this might be the problem. AE have such a good reputation in the planted forums that when the occasional bad batch or bad experience happens its more shocking.

I think I will still use them next time I'm looking for something I can't get locally. But I've got most of the plants I need now so won't be buying more for a little while.

I don't mean to diss AE at all. I've never bought plants from them because of their prices. I buy Tropica from Pets at Home the day they come in for £9 for 3 pots. same pots same quality brand new. I wouldnt buy them after a week or more as they do not know how to keep plants. (They do have a limited selection but for run of the ill plants this is where I go)

I tend to buy a lot of plants from Aquatic Magic and equipment too because although they are in Malaysia the price and postage is cheaper than AE by a large margin (sometimes for the same item) and I have never been let down by their quality (although I know people who weren't as happy as I was)

Also I find Aquatic Magic sells some hard to find plants whereas AE stocks the more mainstream.

I did buy my Tropica PN from AE though and probably wouldve bought my PC 55W control unit and bulb there if they hadn't displayed sold out for 2 months in a row.
