I got a little tax back, so I treated myself to one of these today. http://www.aquaone.co.uk/betta-aquariums.php
It really seems amazingly well designed. Slow flow, masses of media, about 10x what I have for one betta in an internal filter in 27l tank! And fantastic looking too.
I've bought a really healthy looking anubias on coconut cave, but other than that, scaping is still at the design stage. I really fancy having one all white, there was a white halfmoon in wharf aquatics today, I'd love him.
And after a trip to pets at home today with their dayglo guppy tank, I'm fancying some bright coral ornaments!

Each section looks to be 11 liters which is not enough for a betta. If you took out the dividing walls then it would be a decent tank set up. I'm just worried about the capacity.

I love those tanks, one day i'd like one myself, looking forward to seeing how you scape the sections

These tanks look really nice, not sure about dayglo guppies though.
lol! I just meant the tank was set up with very bright ornaments and guppies are so colourful it just made a really eye catching tank :)

That would be missing the point of the tank though! 11l is 2.5 of our uk gallons, which is the min size advised in the care sheet of this forum (or maybe that's us gallons, so only 9.5l)
The filtration is much more than any even 5 gall tank would have, so I'm comfortable giving it a go. I was actually saying to the guy in the lfs how lovely it was that someone had designed something that satisfied the needs of the fish, yet was convenient and looked so lovely.

Those tanks are only really suitable for shrimp and then only at a pinch. It's a shame they are just a bit bigger to make them worth having.

11 litres is around US 2.9gal, the recommended minimum size for keeping betta is US 2.5gal (11 litres is UK 2.4gal )

So these tanks are certainly within the recommended sizing. The tank also has the advantage of the fish technically in a 33 litre divided tank, the 33 litres is far more stable and easier to keep that way, than an individual 11 litre tank

Got tied up with the reference to 27L in the first post - so thought each section was 9L.
I still think 11L is still a bit on the small side even if it is the recommended minimum for a betta. I have a 12L shrimp tank and wouldn't keep anything else in there, but inverts - that's just my opinion I know.
Good luck with the tank, ellena, whatever you decide to put in it.

Recommended size? No. Minimum size? Sure. I hate seeing these guys in anything less than 5 gallons. Even if the filter is a good quality, it is often very difficult to regulate the ammonia for a proper fishless cycle. Smaller tanks are harder to heat anyway. If you were sparse with the substrate and decorations and added floating plants as well as a few anubias, the 11 liters (that's 11 liters with ONLY water, so you're looking at around 9 liters with decorations) would be a better space. They would just have to be carefully set up.

Recommended minimum size i said, the words together make a difference!

This tank will be the cycling, filtering & heating a 33 litre tank, as i stated easier to keep stable

As for anything under 5gal not being appropriate to you, thats fine. This isnt your tank though, and what some people agree with there will always be those that dont.

On a betta specific forum, there are many that keep their betta in under 1 gal, so 2.9gal doesnt sound so bad does it

Ah, the age old argument. It isn't your fish, so go away. If I see someone kicking a dog, and I tell them to stop, is it being their dog a relevant argument?
I agree with what others have said: Unless you can take the dividers out, I wouldn't keep a betta in there.

The tank looks cool! The visual of different settings in that tank will look great!

Nice one! I really hope you can do a journal of the tank soon!

:)

I didnt say to go away at all thank you very much......

And someone kicking a dog is far different to keeping a betta in what is considered by many, including betta specific people & myself, perfectly acceptable. Kicking a dog is never acceptable!

So I got my first betta on Monday. He's really gorgeous! The display at the lfs isn't that well lit, so I had her lift down the ones I wanted to look at. I didn't ask for him, but so glad she lifted him down.
I got a coconut cave with anubias growing and some cuttings from a friend of a reddish plant which is going wild in his tank.
I turned the filter down to its lowest, but I could see him having to swim against the current, so I've covered the outlet with foam.
Really light covering of sand and gravel (you can't go too high or you'd cover up the slits in the dividers)
After 24 hours, I put in a chunk of sponge from the filter in an axolotl tank. Checked last night after 24hrs and 0 ammonia, so I'm

Here's lotus and his tank.

He's gorgeous :) seems like a really neat tank.  Regardless of the arguments between others I am glad you are happy with the tank and I'm sure your fish will be just fine.
