Hi. Any one got one of these? I am having such a job trying to get the lid off for cleaning. Currently using a chisel, lots of grunting and care as not ready to slit my wrists yet. Use tonnes of silicone grease when closing as per intsructions. Just want to know if anyone else is having this hassle, or maybe I have a defective gasket or mis-shapen canister?

Normally it is only the first two or three times thats so difficult because of the way they factory seal the filters. We had a massive laugh at our AquaOne rep over this filter...

Take the filter appart and away from the pipes and using your hand in a tight tube shape over the hole for the inlet, blow into the filter... it releases the seal. Its really badly explained but... i tried lol

hmmmm, am dedicated, but giving my filter a blow, got to draw the line somewhere!!! Seriously tho, will give it a go next time it's due. Take it you have to cover the return hole or get a face full lol

Now you see why we had a great laugh at the rep's expense!! Poor guy... he was so embarrassed!!

I guess now would be the oppourtune time to say it my be worth lubricating the o-ring too, might help stopping such a tight seal each time you close filter up  :good:

EDIT: careful opening with a screwdriver (i've had to do it too!) because you not only risk craking the canister but if you squash or damage to sealing ring, you might end up with a serious leak.

I use a good quality silicone grease each time I open it, cleaning away the old greas each time. Went to my mates last night, he has a 2450, opens a treat just using the handles as per instructions. Think am gonna try a new o-ring :-
