Hi.

I am considering a 55 gallon aqua culture tank and stand from wal-mart.

Does anyone have any experience with the tank and the filters and heaters that come with it

The price looks great @ around $150-160 for the starter tank and $90 for the stand.

Thanks,
Matt

I have the 5-15gallon filter from aqua culture and I love it! However depending on what you plan on stocking in the 55gallon you may consider a bigger filter, or adding another filter.

Also when you buy the metal stand you may want to put something under it as it can dig into your flooring (depending on what you have) and make a nice little dent. There are wood floors in my home, and from just the weight of a 20gallon long, I have tiny dent marks from a metal stand that I have. Just a word of precaution. :good:

fishhies- thank you for the quick response.

right now i have a 20 gal long above my computer on my computer desk and i do not want to keep it there for fear of any sort of leak!

i am going to put it in my bedroom on my 2nd floor on carpet, will my house be strong enough to hold it? (the house is about 10 years old)

do you have any pictures? and how is the quality of the filter and heater?

thanks again
Matt

I recommend Hagen Aquaclear filters. Easy to clean, great suction, and the medias can be changed separately. My brother has a Wal-Mart stand in his room on carpet, however his is only a 10-gallon. 10 years old isn't old at all. I'm sure you'd be fine. :)

Your house is strong enough to hold a 100 gallon tank in there, that is the weight of a few people, and if a room can't support the weight of a few people then it would not pass inspection. Two filters that I recommend are either the biggest aquaclear HOB filter or the emperor 400, both are great.

I have experience with a walmart 55 gallon... not sure if it is the same one tho... i love it tho its great... filter is fine.
