Hi, i had just started my tank back up and i have a 29 gal.tank and i did have a aquaclear (50) on it a few years ago but i then boughf the marine land penguin 200 to go on my other 29 gal, but i have 1 set up for now. So the question is which 1 is the better filter? I dont like the fact the marineland doesnt have a control for the flow but it is easier to maintain. And for the marineland should i put 2 filter pads in it or 1 is fine? Thanks in advance

i like aquaclear, but thats just my opinion....

i use two foam inserts in them

Personally, Aqua Clear are the best HOB's. I've had a few others and prefer these much more. You have the ability to easily swap out media, carbon, foam, etc. I currently have 2 running and with the exception of have some micro bubbles when the water levels get low, I have no issues at all.

Aquaclear wins for me on sheer media capacity and therefore versatility.
