I've just put some ideas for my tank into the aqadvisor stocking calculator website and it says that with:

7 neon tetras
3 honey gourami
6 dwarf corys
3 amano shrimp
2 cockatoo apisto

my 64l tank would only be 87% stocked. While I would be very pleased with this lot (at the mo only have the neons and gouramis) it seems to me like there would be a lot of fish in there. What do more experienced people think? Is this stocking sensible?

hey, my tanks slightly bigger and it says
2 balloon mollies
5 gold barbs
6 praecox rainbows

im 165% stocked and i want to add 3 otos to keep algae under control (plus they remind me of bunnies)

HOWEVER it is still a work in progress and it will always be a work in progress. so with time and good tips for ybae it will be finely tuned soon enough.

In my opinion it's fine, but that's because I'm not anal about measuring every mm of fish. I don't see anyhing wrong with it, fish should be stocked dependent on waste output, not size. If there are 2 fish that are of similar shape and one measures 1 inch, and the other 2 inches, the one that is 2 inches will theoretically put out 8 times more waste because it's volume is 8 times that of the other fish

It is as reliable as the feedback the author has received on this and at least 5 other forums where I have seen his posts. You might as well take the prejudices of each of those forums, average them together and just punch out an answer. It is probably about as reliable as the advice you would get in a typical thread. If people don't like the answers they get, they complain to the author and he changes parameters around to try to please people.

yeah except for the fact we complain but provide a good back up for it, if it is reasonable then he will change it, if its total bs he wont

You are more a less correct. The idea was to start off with profile site data, and listen to expert opinions. If existing data turns out to be incorrect, then I fix them. I'm hoping that over time, AqAdvisor's DB will eventually contain a lot of expert's feedback.

I am more interested in getting correct answer rather than "try to please people"... :)

Well I just tried it and with my stocking it puts me at about 98% fully stocked roughly.

Only thing was that it didn't have any of the fluval range of filters on there and i being forgetful can't remember what my turnover in litres per hour is.
That is pretty consistent with what everyone on here has told me about my stocking levels

Which filter do you have? If you give me the exact model number, I can add it as well.
