Hi ok here's the thing I had 3 apple snails in my main tank well they have all died about a month ago I know they laid eggs because brfore they died I started seeing little baby snails in my main tank well I took a few of them out and put them in my fry tank 2 weeks ago and now Im seeing these little jelly blobs on the wall of the tank it looks like there is little dots all in them there is about 3 blobs that I see and I just wanted to know will apple snails lay eggs at such a young age they are about a month old Im guessing and they are not very big about the sixe of a piece of gravel...any info will help :S

what colour are the eggs?
apple snail eggs are orange
giant apple snails eggs are bright green

well the blob is clear and the dots look like a light green do they lay eggs this soon????

sorry, dear. those are pond snail eggs. odds are even good that the three "baby apple snails" aren't apples at all. did they just show up or did you actually witness their eggs appearing? apple snails lay eggs about the size of BB pellets. pond snails leave little egg jellies all over everything.

well the blobs just appaeared on the side of the tank about half way down so what you are telling me these snails that I bought at petco that said apple snails probaly aren't even apple snails?????

The apple snails you bought were probably apple snails. Apple snails however lay thier eggs above the water line, somewhere in your hood. If you see eggs in the water, then they are most likely common pond snails - a hitchicker from live plants. Common pond snails can ( and usually do) become a pest, see the pinned post on pest snails in the invertebrates forum.

how else can I get these I don'nt have any live plants and how do I get rid of them?????

Don't know how else you got them, but jelly type clumps of eggs are usually common pond snail eggs, have you positively ID'ed your snails? See...

and

rains pinned post in the forum mentioned above.

from what I can tell some of the little ones are apple snails and some are the other kind above the apple snail on the section I just read ............

If it's any consolation, I have common pond type snails in my tanks and haven't had any problem with them. As long as you don't overfeed.

it wouldn't hurt to remove it... you really want to avoid introducing any creature straight from nature into your tank; too many parasites and germs can piggyback in with it.

i see where you have two turtles in your 20g? how deep is it and do you have a some sort of floating station for them to rest on? turtles have lungs and need easy access to atmospheric air. they also will be glad to munch on any fish they can catch, so they might not be the best of companions for your finny friends.

also, coryadoras are schooling fish. the one in the 10g is probably lonely; you might want to consider moving the other three in with him.

I have newts and they are trying to eat my pond snails. I bet your turtles will eat them too. get him out now if you don't want a bunch of baby snails they reproduce like mad.

you might need two to have fertilized eggs i'm not sure. I think you do though.

edit: does your snail look like this?

I'll post a picture of some eggs as soon as my battery recharges for a while.
