Apple snail gone

Just looked in my tank and noticed the shield plate on my apple snail was detatched. When I found the shell I hooked it out and theres nothing inside there!!!!
If anything goes near him, he usually hides back in his shell and the plate protects him, do you recon this fell off first then my clown loaches got him, or do you recon they managed to get him without him hiding quick enough.
Or maybe he just left his shell then got eaten.
Not sure wether they do that or not.

Well clown loachs eat snails so they are a posibility, also the snail could had starved and died- they cannot survive off scavenging alone or it could have died by other means like it you added a med to the tank containing copper and then the fish ate the dead snail up after it died.

Didnt add any meds and provided food, sinking pellets etc... at night too. I've seen him eat them.
One of lifes mysteries!!!

clown loaches love snails... not much of a mystery here IMO
