Apple Snail Air Siphon

Today i was doing my weekly tank mentainance when i saw my apple snail sending out it's air siphon. I thought it was interesting but then i saw it start breathing. AMAZING the thing actually breathes air. It was taking huge gasps. Aquariumlife never ceases to amaze me.

They are fascinating. What you saw was the snail filling up it's lung with air. Then they can breathe for so long under water.

yeh, my snails are seriously the most interesting thing in the tank. I have a long air stone and i put it really high to create a current in the tank, and the snails go onto it and float up,drift a little and land on a plant
