I have a 55 gallon tank that I am looking to put some Apistos in. Already in the tank is
1 male Krib
1 female blue gourami
3 emerald cories

So in the end I have a few questions... can I put 1 male & 3 female A. cacatoides in the tank? and would angelfish be able to go in the tank along with these fish?

I personally would not keep emerald Cories or appistos with a krib and I'm suspicious of the gourami in the mix as well. Appistos are good low key community fish and Cories are completely unsuited for a tank with any Cichlids other than the milder tempered appistos, but never with kribs.

Cockatoos are best with 2 females to a male minimum. The male can over stress one female. I personnaly plan 3 females to 1 male. You will have a happier colony. Each female should have a cave facing away from the others. The male will consider this his territory. But in general he will not bother the other tank mates.
