Apistogrammas

I am thinking about replacing my Rosy Barbs with a pair of Apistogrammas. This is due to the Barbs destroying my plants.

I take it the Apistos don't destroy plants? Also, will they be OK with the rest of my stocking?

OK, don't want anything that disrupts my overwise peaceful tank, but the Barbs need to go as they are ruining my tank

Any suggestions for replacements? I could obviously get more Columbians or Phantoms, but it would be nice to add a splash of colour as that's why I bought the barbs in the first place.

Maybe a few rainbow fish?

odessa barbs? erm... what are your water stats?

PH is 7 I think, or 7.5, everything else is 0 as I do fairly large water changes and it's an established tank.

I don't want anything that eats plants.

6 minimum, but you'd probably get away with 8 without any problems as long as its pretty well filtered.

They shouldn't be that expensive...I got 6 for about £20. Better to wait and get all of them at the same time, they're a schooling fish and they won't be happy in smaller numbers - nor will they look anywhere near as impressive. Hang fire, they're worth the wait.

Bosemani are £8.95 each, not sure on the Praecox. Pretty expensive to me when you have to buy 5 of them

Boesmani grow much bigger than praecox, and are more obviously coloured. Thats why they're so expensive.

Check the price on the praecox - I had a look in Wildwoods today and 6 were £15.00.
