see my signature for stocking, but ive just lost my female borelli because i think the male was a bit of a bully, would anyone reccomend to females to pacify him?
or are there any less agressive apistos that could go in there as a pair?

if not is there anything else you could suggest breeding in there?

two females would help him spread the love as theres no better way of sayin it haha, but in a 50litre tank just 2 would be pushin it ... did you have plenty of hiding places for the female to hide in and make he feel more safe ?

two coconut halves and heavy planted with crypts round the back?

he does chase the ember tetras about a bit as well to be honest, would the trifaciata of bitaeniata be any better you think?

I think if you moved your cories out the 48 and put the male back in and added in a hareem for him of 2 females I think it will work better if you create your scape so that its got a lot of visual barriers this is a really good way of doing it.

dont i need bottom feeders in there, i know it sounds a bit primitive but ive always been taught that the basic formula is suckers/grazers, snufflers (4 the substrate), shoalers, centrepeice

would u leave the embers in there?

Yeah your right with the structure but in a small tank you sometimes have to make sacrifices and since you have the shrimp and the ottos in a small tank I think that would be good for that tank :) Also the apistos will peck at the gravel for food since typically they will hover around the lower areas. I think the embers will work really well in there as well :)

yea my apistos cover the bottom looking for fod and also when its feeding time come to the top for food even the tiny femle has learnt to battle for food, like wills said having visual barriers helps loads

Not sure what LFS you have around you but any Maiden Head should be able to order quite a few of them for you. If you go on tropical fish finder it gives you a list of some of the LFS around you especially all MA's or Aquarist Classified is a good one to find breeders or people trying to rehome pairs/trios etc.

Just wondering if you have considered any other dwarfs at all? Where as apistos work best in trios or harems you get some dwarfs that work better as pairs. Just thinking it could be an option for you.
