Last month I did a week long feed with frozen blood worm. The females would show bright orange/yellow in flashes but as a whole the breeding project failed. I have caves, vases, and hiding places but no luck. Also, when it comes to breeding temp every article/site says one of either two things. Lower the temp or raise the temp, which leaves me somewhat confused.

My params are triple 0ppm
Ph 7.5
kH liquid rock (but others have breed borellii in the same param so I'm willing to overlook that as a factor.)
regular tank temp is 24C

Any suggestions you guys may have would be more than welcome. If I can get this trio to breed I'll feel like I accomplished something!

Hi, it seems to me that you ph is a little high. From what I understand it needs to be more around 6-6.5 (you need to bring it down no more than 0.5 in any 24hr period so they don't suffer with shock). I'm currently going through the same process, I've got Apisto Caca's the females are ready but the male is still a little young, a couple more weeks - my fingers are crossed )

Hi Sammy

I thought ph would be a factor but I've read many accounts of people breeding apistos (including borellii) in the same and even less ideal conditions than mine. I have watched the male borellii display to the females but the females bat him away by swiping him with their tail fin. Another thing to note is that when the male is displaying sexually his fins are brighter but the tips/edges of the fins are dark, almost black so it's easy to notice.
