All my Apisto males passed recently in the community tank. I had Orange Flash and Aggassazi red tail communities. They all got on well.

But I had used a net to hatch and raise pepper eggs and fry and did too small and infrequent water changes. I got old tank syndrome I think. I then impatiently got it straightened fast and lost more fish.

It seems settled now.

But I had an Aggassazi lady and an orange flash lady. I picked up a couple of small cockatoos at the lps. One matured overnight into a male demon and started to pester the already stressed ladies. The aggassazi died. The orange flash is hiding behind the heater and filter intake and staying almost black. If she comes out, he chases her, corners her, displays and flicks his tail. She cowers.

Should I move him until I can get some girls for him or move her? She is an old lady and not up to all the fuss from him.

yea i think if you can you need to isolate him. sounds like she could do with being as settled as possible so its definately him that should be moved.

then like you say, get more females and that should help spread any aggression there is.

Thanks, SamUK. With my luck I will get a passel of Don Juans rather than Janes. They are pretty hard to sex young. I think he went macho as soon as he hit the tank. In the LPS I was guessing and still don't know what the second one I got is. I leaning toward him being a him, and the second one I was aiming for a girl, cause I figured he would need one, but it's not a sure thung yet. Everyone is ignoring the second one so far.
