Hi, There is probably something written up on this but I have looked and can only find bits and pieces. I am looking for a decent test kit for my tank, currently we use the JBL easy test strips as recommended by the place we bought our fish a while back. We have had our tank up and running a good while now and not experienced many problems considering we are beginners I suppose. Ive heard the liquid test kits are the best but mixed reviews on the API ones, are JBL liquid test kits better? Or any others for that matter?

Main reason for asking is we have a neon tetra which has lost the red on its back and after trying to find out why some say it could be to do with amonia levels, the test sticks we have are showing no problems, all other fish seem fine but obviously this is worrying. Will post in 'sick fish' forum if no one can help here.

Any advice would be great
Thx
Trinity

I use the API tests and they're perfectly good for general fishkeeping needs. They're no the most accurate; that would be Salifert, but those are more expensive.

I've never used the JBL tests, I'm afraid, so I can't comment on those.

Agree with flutter - I've used API for two years, and I believe they are plenty accurate. And you get hundreds of tests for the price.
