Anyone Tried The Walstad Method ?

Yes, I had one set up only a few months ago, I did use a filter however, but that was only for circulation:

Water changes were done every 6 months, the substrate consisted of Mulm, peat, dry salts, clay cat litter capped with sand, it is important to remember that water changes should be performed frequently for the first few weeks just while things become established, then add fish remembering to keep stocking on the light side to begin with.

I grow some of my plants in stocking of soil.. so not the full hog, but it works for me. I have done it before I had even heard of her, but for plant-only tanks.

Thinking of doing it on my 3 foot 110 Ltr. Not got much room for an external filter so Im gonna use sponge filter.

As long as you've got good circulation you probably wont need a filter if the stocking remains light.
