anyone successfully treated missing fins.

how did you do it? What did you use? i brought 2 fish (at differnet times) with missing tail fins. They have been in my tank for a while. I have tried Melafix, big water changes. They been like it for some time and causes no problems but thought I would post this to see if any one had sucess.

One of my platies lost a chunk of her tail fin a few weeks ago - it's grown back already. I've not used anything for it, just let nature do it's job

If the fin is missing all the way to the body, it will never regrow. If they were just missing a lot of tissue but still had some fin left it will regrow in time. The best thing to do is keep them in clean water at the proper conditions and eventually the fin should grow back. No need for the melafix.

One of my Pygmy Corys lost his tail about a year ago (I believe a Sparkling Gourami attacked him) but it's never grown back. It's right down to his body too. But of all my Pygmys, he's actually the most active. I frequently see him sifting around etc when all the others are in hiding.

I usually have at least one female tiger barb that's had her tail chomped off (little swine); they always grow back in a few weeks with nothing but good, clean water.

It's always a good idea to keep a close eye on them, as there's always the chance that secondary infections, like fungus, can get a foothold on any injuries.
