Someone on AC is selling 3 Ellioti's and i was wondering if anyone could help me sex these? I have had a go but have no idea. lol. He says 2 of the 3 have paired off and chase the 3rd away all the time.

Cheers.

I'd guess that (in pic 1) male on right female left, second pic guess female buy other pic.

I agree the male possible looks fatter and the female possible more slender. Never had these fish before but that would be my best guess. Good luck if you decide to get them

Welli decided to leave the pair and go for the odd one out. It has been bullied by the other two and has had its fins nipped a bit. I added it in with two spot (mine) and at first i thought everything was well. Then the bullying began! mine was chasing the new one all over and being a bit nippy. Left them to it for an hour or so to see if they he was just trying to establsh dominance etc.It carried on for a while so i removed mine to another tank that was housing my new Honduran Red Points but then they started picking on him and he wasn't retaliating, so now i have the HRP's in my main tank and 2 spot is in one by himself. He is very shy when on his own, hasn't come out from behind the plants yet.

Hopefully going to try and let the newer one establish itself in the main tank before adding 2 spot back in with it. I'm still unsure as to whether it is male or female, my initial thoughts after adding him was a male, but because of the nipped fins i am very unsure. It has definately come out of it's shell though over night, in fact more or less straight away as soon as i removed 2 spot. Seems less aggressive than 2 spot though.

When we got the species Thorichthys aureus in the shop we automatically figured the most colourful and dominant was the male. It was only until a pair bred when we realised that the most colourful and most aggresive was in fact the female! Im not 100% sure but it could be the same for elliotti but we have had them in store too and they dont seem anywhere near aggresive as the aureum

Have you still got aureus in stock? Is that the one that has the darker colouration also known as the blue flash? If so.could you pm a price for a group of say 3? Cheers.
