The reason i'm asking is because i'm moving to Southsea this weekend and just got round to thinking that i'll now have to do a search for a decent LFS. Looking on PFk theres loads down there so i wnat to know which are the best ones so i go to them first. Thanks in advance!! :p

Lucky you, I'm in Pompey. There's a couple of good ones, depends what you're after really. But even if there isn't, at least one shop will order in what you want.

Well i'm looking for a shop with a good range of freshwater tropicals. I only have two small tanks so a shop that has a good range of small fish like apistos, killis etc.

I suppose what i really should ask is which shops should i avoid?

Weelll...

This http://www.practicalfishkeeping.co.uk/pfk/...ounty=Hampshire is pretty good, they get some nice killies in every so often and do a good range of dwarf cichlids (including a load of pelvicachromis species) although the tanks can get a bit grotty, and has a lot of different normal species. It's also pretty near the ASDA and several shopping areas, which is good of you need an excuse to go.

http://www.practicalfishkeeping.co.uk/pfk/...ounty=Hampshire is fairly new, it's actually inside Sainsburys. Fishwise tends to be mainly normal community fish, although they get some cool stuff in sometimes, and they will order in what you want. A lot of equiptment, including Aquaclear HOBS.

http://www.practicalfishkeeping.co.uk/pfk/...ounty=Hampshire has gone a bit downhill, the fish are good if you get in there as soon after they come in as possible, and the plants are very cheap, plus there's a large reptile side to the store.

http://www.practicalfishkeeping.co.uk/pfk/...ounty=Hampshire I haven't been there for a while, but last time I went they had a fairly good FW section, although many species wern't labelled, but the marine side is great and becasue of that, they have a lot of equiptment.

http://www.practicalfishkeeping.co.uk/pfk/...ounty=Hampshire Same as most MAs, expensive, but a lot of tanks and equiptment and sometimes some good fish.

I'd rather use Aqualife, it's much nearer and the staff seem more helpful. Plus MAs tanks are always chock-full of fish, Aqualife's tanks have plenty of room for whatever. Although I'm sure that won't matter if they can get me a proper parasitic parasitic catfish...

Price matching? Thats interesting. I don't use MA much for fish though.
The guy at that MA was prepared to price match on an Eheim Canister filter from a price on the web, all I needed to do was take in a copy of the web page, would have done it too but they weren't in stock at the time and the web were prepared to deliver free, it would have cost me too much to make another trip down just for the filter.
