I have a 180 litre (approx) tank that is no good for fish but ideal for amphibians. Here's a pic:

2 bodies of water with an island is what I'm thinking. But I don't know where to start with species!!! Whats available in the UK? And how difficult are the various species to keep and cater for? Also considering any invertibrates that will make use of the island. The tank is well established, and the current occupants will be moved to a larger aquarium soon.

Perfect tank for mudskippers! :good: even though they are fish

Could also be used for crabs.

Im sure there are quite a few frogs that live in both water and land. Try google for a bit. :good:

Im guessing you're setting up a paludarium?

What are you going to do with the empty space above the land area?

I'm trying to visualise this, haha

Empty space depends whats in there. May move my bamboo out of the kitchen and plant it in the wanter, its tall enough to grow into the empty space and I'll keep it trimmed. May stack wood or rocks onto the island. I will do with the empty space whatever suits the animals I have in there. Might have the water leve a couple of inches higher than the center island and then have rocks stacked on the island... It will be used to suit the inhabitants. Maybe some red clawed crab with the water level about 4 inches higher than the island, rocks stacked and a few neon tetras swimming about the place?

Maybe have it set up like that, with a colony of Fire Belly Newts?

Yep, they like it about 23 degrees C.

Do you know the gallonage of each side? If it is big enough, you could get some plecs as well. :good: I think bn's will tolerate the lower temps. :good:

Its 180 litres full... Not sure what that is in gallons... But the two pools won't be very big...

I would love a couple of turtles but don't know if there are anythat stay ickle??? lol!

Like the newts and bonzai tree idea though... Lots... Maybe hillstream loaches and some minnows either side?

Nope, I dont think there are any :( I think all get 10"+

Hm.. wouldnt the newts eat the minnows?

I have a rio 180 (180 litres imaginative name eh) and would love some turtles or similar in it, so I too would like to know more about them.
