Anyone Know Of A Place That Sells This Kind Of Substrate?

im looking for very fine gravel for planted tank that is jet black and about 1-2mm in diameter...ive seen the pettex stuff and ive had it before and its terrible.


what do you recommend?

whats wrong with natural gravel?

i thought B/gravel would be really good and it wasnt so im stuck with loads of it!!! but its large about 8mm pieces

no ive not seen the akadama...but i do like normal playsand lol...and thats as natural as it gets...i just want either a black gravel or sand substrate i can use to cap some clay based substrate. i want the fish to stand out if you know what i mean

Black helps fish stand out. I have seen black sand, but not regular fine gravel that is black. Look on ebay. My 10 gallon has black gravel.

i use black gravel and a black background.... its realy good...

sorry i trwo away the bags... no clue what brand it was... but it had a picture of a fncy gold fish on the front.. if that helps
its realy good stuff especialy in planted aquariums... gotta love black

Ive got the unipac micro gravel, its 2-3mm but its good stuff. The contrast between it and plants/fish is brilliant. Got mine for approx £2 per 2.5Kg bag but you can buy them in bigger bags i think.

Black sand for aquariums

The stuff droobyb linked to is all I use. It is pretty much washed (I do rinse it a little) and will be clear within 5 minutes of filing the tank. The black color also really brings out the colors of the fish.

I'm in the uk and I used the black Roman Gravel, and am very happy with it. I used it to cap a abse layer of JBL AquaBasis+ and I have to say that I am overall happy
Much better than the larger sized natural gravel I had before, and the plants are certainly benefiting from the JBL substrate.
