I might be scrapping my whole 3D Background project even though it's been completed now for a few weeks. It just doesn't look realistic enough for me and I think in order to make a decent 3D background to mimic mangrove roots I'll need to work with a metal frame and cement putty or something of that nature.

Right now I'm trying to price out getting pretty large amounts of mangrove driftwood, or what some places call "Caribbean Driftwood". www.floridadriftwood.com is getting some stuff together for me but I have a feeling that it will be very expencive. I was wondering if any of you guys knew of a good supplier? I'm not interested in using malaysian driftwood anymore. It releases too much tanin which is cool for the fish but not as cool for the viewer. The novelty has just totally diminished for me.

The tank is a 200G (84"x24"x24") so I'll need fairly large pieces. I'd also be willing to buy from anyone that might have this kind of wood floating around in their neighborhood that would be able to legally collect it and ship it out to me. Really though, I'm not looking to inconvience anybody. I just need some good wood for my archer paludarium.

If anyone can refer me to a supplier I'd really appreciate it. Thanks!
David

All the reviews I have heard about Florida Drift Wood have been bad, especially about customer service. I have used Aquarium Drift Wood based on their excellent reviews and I am personally amazed with their A+ quality and excellent customer service. AquariumDriftWood.com may be a better option, but its up to you really.

They dont carry "Mangrove/Carribean" Driftwood but they sell their wood based on styles, such as branchy or stumpy. The Branchy style may be what you are looking for. Here is a picture of the branchy style:
