Hi Guys,

Seen a small pleco about 5 innches at lfs today. Dont know much about them but just wondering if anyone knows what kind he was and if they are easy to keep. He was a very dark black with white spots all over his body. Ring a bell to anyone.

aye that looks like a snowball, Ive seen em for £35 and from what i remember they grow to around 35cm

I hope you have a big tank cos if its a snowball its going to grow 10-12 inches!! You should never buy a fish without either asking the fish shop for advice on it or looking it up on the net before buying.

I have a 450ltr so I dont care too much about size when buying fish. Just wanting to know if they are peaceful. How big does the common pleco grow compared to a snowball.

i dont think the op has bought the plec, they were just asking about it. so i guess this is looking it up and asking advice..... isnt it

Thats him yeah. Are they ok with other bottom feeders such as corys. You know much abouth them?

I've kept plecs for years great fish to keep and once you get into the fancy ones you can spend a fortune finding the ones on your wish list

I couldn;t see any problems with corys at all personally

Brill cheers, think I will pick him up tomorrow.

happy days

get some pics up when you do and the main thing about plecs is to feed them not just leave them to pic scraps. they can easily go downhill irreverssibly unless they are well fed
