excuse my ignorance, it looks to me like java fern, but i was sold this by a LFS and planted it in my substrate and the original plant has now gone completely brown but the offshoots are growing at a superb rate

here are a few pics anyhows

i only had one fairly large plant, and have now split it into about 4 or 5 plants, with the original still spitting out smaller leaves

apologies for the puffer who just wouldnt leave me alone

they do look a lot like my java fern, but as the orig plant was just planted in coral sand/pieces, i didnt think it could grow, so dismissed it

anyone help me out IDing it

Looks like Java Fern to me but I'm not an expert. Looks pretty close to what I have. As far as I understand though there are a couple different kinds of Java Fern. Or at least according to the LFS there is.... you know how reliable that info can be.

The puffer is cute. He's not in the way. :)

the actual plant i first got was a large leafed plant with a brown underside, the whole of the plant has now gone brown, but i have exactly the same type in another part of the tank that hasnt yet gone completely brown yet there are roots coming from about half way up the leaf

i do actually have a fair bit of wood that this can be attatched to and would rather not lose all of it if its thriving in my tank

anyone confirm its j.fern

Java fern, above is correct do not bury it. Use cotton thread or fishing line and tie it to wood and it will attacht itself within time. Im sure once it grows in it will look great :good:
