Just a curiosity thread, anyone here into anime or manga? What are your fav anime/manga series or movies?
My favorite animes? Hmm..There's quite a few that i love i guess, difficult to put which ones are my favorites, but here's a general idea(in no particular order);

Azumanga
Puni puni poemy
Rune solidier
Fruits basket
Full metal alchemist
Samurai Champloo
Dragon Half
Chobits
Angelic layer(its for kids but its too cool!)

I have some Last Exile lying around, but i havn't really got into it very much yet, but its still good- one of my other favorites is Excel Saga, although i only prefer the first couple of volumes.
Theres too many anime movies to list though- anything by miyazaki basically, plus loads of other movies like Akira, AppleSeed, barefoot gen, Memories, Millienium actress, kai doh maru etc etc...Im sure as time goes by i'll be able to add plenty more series and movies to the list too :fun: .

How about you guys/girls :) ?

Akira obviously and that one where the brothers are all different coloured dragons? Can't for the life of me remember what it's called. :S

I was a big fan in my younger days, but haven't really shown much interest lately. My first edition, part 1, Akira was my prize possession until it went missing :(

Anything you can recommend Tokis?

hrm... i like anime series with big robots and angsty teenagers (such as Gasarakai); i know the English dialogue from Nadesico by heart. :p i also really enjoyed Peacemake Kurogane

i tend to prefer squishy girly-mangas. my favorites are Mars by Fuyumi Souryo, Basara, DNAngel and Sayuki. (ok so Saiyuki isn't very girly but those guys are hawt.) i'm just getting into Endless Sabbath also by Souryo; i can't get enough of that art style.

i generally like the Korean manwha too. i loved the Kill Me, Kiss Me series by Lee Young You, although i was disappointed in the lapses in the storyline following the stellar first novel. i'm really looking forward to the new title by You being released on Tokyopop. i'm always pleased by the quality of the artwork and the ideas presented in the manwhas i leaf through--i just wish i had the time and money to spend on beginning new series!

There are so many different types of anime/manga out there it's hard to decide which I like the best! Recently I've been watching Castle in the sky, Spirited away, something of Fireflys (cant remember full title and of course Princess Monoke they are pretty good! There is one anime series that got me into it when I was a child and that was The Mysterious Cities of Gold! That just has to be one of the best kids tv series ever out there! I wish they would hurry up and release it on DVD soon!

But my fav manga of all time is 3x3 eyes not sure why but there is something about it that I really enjoy!

I like (and used to have) the complete seires of Love Hina and Chobits. Theyre hilarious, especially the Chobits ebisode where shes sent out to buy panties, and wanders the streats reapeating "pnatsu" at random people, who give her strange looks.

Classic :D

inuyasha is good too. y dont u like manga much. great invention........when theres no tv to watch anime you will always be able to read manga........but then im a readaholic and constantly reading something.

i have to say that while i enjoyed the first season of Samurai Champoo, i was most disappointed in the direction it took during the concluding second season. too much cross-genre cut scenes and random introduction of new characters for critical plot points. the baseball ep was just too frustrating to finish watching; very anti-Western and painfully biased with no real contribution to the main story arc.

while i was most pleased with the character designs and origin stories, i was strongly disappointed by the slapdash approach taken in the last few episodes. however, i definitely can't argue against the "fight choreography"--excellent action sequences.

Since there seems to be a decent number of us here, I propose we divulge information about d/ls and anime information. ^^

I suppose I'll start:
p2p program: DC++, one of the best sources for anime I have ever found.
Mininova.org Torrents (lots of anime)
Tokyotosho.com (only anime/manga-related torrents)
Boxtorrents.com (same as tokyo toshokan)
-utorrent is the best client for torrents (thought I'd throw that in)

My first one was Castle in the Sky! Well that was first film but first ever series was Mysterious Cities of Gold, not sure if that comes under anime though as it was done by the Japanese and French still say it was the best series I'd seen as a child!

Cant beat manga and anime they just rule, I'm pleased to say I have converted quite a few people into liking it too :D
