Anyone Have Experience With Self Siphoning Gravel Vac?

I own a self siphoning vac. The trick is you need the tube part to be totally underwater for it to work. So you need to get a short tubed self siphoning vac if you don't have a tall tank. Just sink it all the way under the water of your tank, three pumps and all that poop in your tank starts to pour in to your bucket. :D

i got one of those vac's you connect the air line too , you dont lose water with it as all the muck gets drawn into a litle bag , seems to work very well :D , think it was £4.50 from pets at home

I was at Meijer yesterday and saw a self siphoning gravel vac and I was just curious if anyone every used one and how it worked. The reason I ask is because I liked the price tag... 5 bucks!

I have a self siphoning vac and it works great. You just pump it up and down in the water (it explains how) and the water just starts pouring out into my bucket. Then you stick it down in the gravel and it vacuums like crazy. Have been using it for 6 months now and it cleans like mad. Just because something is inexpensive doesn't mean it doesn't work. This is a low tech version, so they can keep it low cost.

there is no point in standing there trying to pump the water threw by sending it up and down in the tank stressing your fish!!

there is a easyer way!!!
put the vac in your tank (put it in so it is al under the water). then suck on the other end of the pipe
(becareful not to get a mouth full!!!!!) then quickly put the end of the pipe in the bucket and vac up al the poop!
saves time. :good:
:yahoo:

I only have to pump the thing about three times and the water flows just great. It does not seem to stress the fish at all. I've been extremely happy with the way it works and how well it works. Plus I don't have any worries about a mouthful of dirty fish water, ew!Don't know what you are doing wrong if you can't get them to pump...

I have to say my pump/suck gravel vac works fine on the pumping - as with Debra I find the pumping action doesn't have to be too violent and about 3 pumps gets it going. Fish seem quite happy too - they come and help/supervise!
