I have found dead frogs floating in my pond on several occasions now. I think the problem is that they jump in and have no way to get back out. Anyone have a simple way to solve that? The only thing I can think of it to have some kind of narrow stick that sticks down into the water and slopes up out of the pond, on to the side. But, I can't think of a way to make it look good.

Otherwise, I suppose I can keep netting them out. Once the koi get big enough, they may take care of the problem too.

If they can get in and not get out they drown.

We have a "stick of life" in 2 of three above ground ponds but mainly for lizards. The other has a mini island from which I have had to rescue lizards.

The tree frogs that bred in the ponds with no fish had no trouble getting out of the ponds with out using the sticks. I have seen them jump in, swim across and jump out onto the other edge BUT the water level is quite close to the top of the pond wall. I am assuming that yours is a "formal" type pond not a natural one.

Get some interesting looking drift wood type sticks. They look quite good. Don't forget to soak them for a while before puting them in the pond.

The only other thing I can think of is to create an "island" on the edge by hanging a plant in a pot of pebbles on the edge so the top is just above the water surface so the frogs can climb onto it from the water and jump out from there.

I get them drowning in our saltwater pool sometimes.
Use plastic water lillies or a piece of polystyrene foam. Your LFS will have sheets of the stuff to go under aquariums. Just get a bit for a 2ft tank and cut it into 6 inch squares. Then float them around the pond.
You can tie them together with fishing line or string and make a type of froggy footpath so they can hop across the pond and get out.

that could be your problem. however there is a disease going around at the minute. something about red legs or something. dont move frogs from pond to pond.

Have plenty of Frogspawn in my Pond at home now. We had a similar problem with the dead frogs years ago. Best thing is to get a good few plants in there to create a kind of soft cushion that the can climb on and get out of the water. Alternatively put a large ornamantal pllant with its base just under the surface.

This does not help with our other problem. We had to drain one of the ponds as we have found 7 dead hedgehogs in there. They have been drinking and fallen in :(
