ok so i came across this product called Weco Wonder Shell. it is surpose to maintain your PH like a PH buffer and also add calcium to help your fish grow?

i actually need a PH buffer like this because i dont wanna add any crushed coral as it would look out of place in my tank. but i was woundering if anyone has ever heard of this or have used it. i want to put a pretty big piece of drift wood inside of my 10gal tank and i am almost sure it will drop my PH to a pretty good deal so i was woundering if i have enuff buffer in my tank would it stop the PH from dropping too much? i think KH means how much of a buffer you have in your water right?

any feed back would be great.
this is the site about the wounder shell

P.S. also how come so many PH buffer products like to say "great for african cichlids"? I mean if i had say tetras wont they PH buffers as much as cichlids?

african cichlids typically come from hard, alkaline waters so the buffering products make the water closer to their natural habitat.

Most south american fish, like tetras come from soft, slightly acidic water.

For most tanks, you don't need to worry about the pH. Pretty much all common fish can adapt to a stable pH from 6.0-8.0.

What is your pH and hardness of your water?

what kind of filter do you have? you know that you could just put a few tsp of crushed coral in the filter, right?

well i have a 10gal and the driftwood is really bad and wiol most likey drag the ph down to 5.0ish.
