My lfs (expencive one) has "paradice fish" They look like regular guaramis but with longer fins. They are like a graying blue and with red tipped fins. Ever heard of them?

They were one of the first "tropical" fish kept. They are very hardy and can be kept in quite cool water. Aggressive things though.

i heard they were like bettas that they can be kept in 1g and up bowls and can survive coildwater and will fight males with males

i just researched them and the site said they are topic or cold water. 65-82 degrees. They also need like 29g of water too.

 A gallon bowl is way too small for a paradise fish  Too small for a betta IMO -_-

Hi MrMashashin :)

Paradise fish are lovely to look at, but difficult to keep. They are also considered a semi-aggressive fish which should be be kept only with large semi-aggressive fish.

They grow to the length of 4 inches or so, and need room to swim, so a bowl is out of the question.

If you haven't read this thread, I suggest you do. Carolinesugar's post on it is especially interesting.

Hey there. I keep paradise fish in a 30 gallon. They are very nice, colorful fish and mine flare at each other all the time but never do anything to harm one another. I find bubblenests on my tank and they try to breed with my gold gourami females and dwarf females. I haven't had but one paradise female and she passed on. RIP
