Anyone Else Have Tingling Skin From Fish Water?

Just one other thing to check here;

Are you turning off your equipment before you do tank maintainance?

This 'tingling' could well be electrical bleed from the heater for example (which wouldn't show in the fish).

Try it next time, see if it still tingles!! ;p

I do turn it off- well, I always turn off the heater and the filter, but I leave the lights and bubble wand on, but I wouldn't think they would cause issues?

Though it actually does kind of feel like what I would imagine electrical bleed to feel like, now that you mention it- and I'm realizing it only seems to happen with one tank. I have a little 5 gallon hospital tank that gets cleaned every other day, and it doesn't give me the same reaction.

I think I'll try turning everything off and see if it makes a difference!

To the person asking about gloves- I found these http://www.fosterandsmithaquatics.com/product/prod_display.cfm?pcatid=3871

They aren't what I would consider cheap at $16, but they're reusable. The same site has one time use versions for 5.49 for one pair, and 6 pairs for 28. Makes more sense to me to go with the heavy duty ones, so that's what I ordered.

Did a bit of an experiment today, and I think it is indeed some kind of electrical issue. I tried putting my hand in the tank with everything unplugged and felt nothing. Did it again later with the filter and heater off but the lights and bubbler on, and yep, got the tingling after only a few seconds.

Nice to know I've been shocking myself all this time!
