I've been thinking of making one as I don't like the current background on my tank but can't move the tank to take it off and replace it with either black or blue.

So...I was thinking of making a moss wall but with more than one type of moss.
Best way I have thought of to do this was by having a 10cm strip of xmas moss along the top.
Below this a 20cm(ish) band of java moss...

Just to have a bit of a contrast once it's grown in.

Questions:
Has anyone done this?

Do you think it'll look good or not?

Would you use other mosses?

i havnt done this but it sounds very cool and looks like it will look amazing
id use as many mosses as i could

Obviously I want it to merge together so that was the only thing I wasn't sure about....
I might have a look through some more mosses before I make a final decision.

But anything has to be better than the background I have at the moment.

Ive just started mine with xmas and java moss, but seems the xmas moss is growing alot quicker for some reason :(

but my wall is 3ft long and about 23 inch high lol

so hopefully will look good one day :)

Did you put them both into the same sheet of plastic. Or do you have one which is a bar of xmas and the other a bar of java?
I was going to do them seperately just as it'd be easier overall, you know cause if/when I decide to take it out I can still sell on excess moss without too much of a faff. :)

My wall will be up to 80cm x 45cm (31.5" x 17.7")

Hi, well as i have no job i could only afford a bunch of each, so i just put them next to each other, they will prob mix eventually.

Yeah but it just made sense to me to cut what would've been once large moss wall into being two seperate bits. Just to try n keep the mosses seperate.
It shouldn't cost anymore to do, and means you can then sell on extra moss easier.

Sorry to change subject but are these moss wall good for new born fry ?
Can the fry use them for a hide out?
