If it leeches ammonia and you are going to plant the likely hood is you'll be struck hard by brown algae during the few weeks since you'll need the light on for the plants. By leeching it doesn't mean a little bit, my Nutrasoil put the ammonia readings off the chart within one night and it took a while to come down.
What I would advise doing is putting it in a bucket or a laundry bucket of some sort and dropping a small seeded filter in and just filtering the water for a few weeks. This is what I did and prevented any serious issues with algae explosions due to ammonia.
On the topic of TGM... Oh my, I remember looking at the drop checkers the other week and seeing they were like £50 but around £3.99 or something silly on eBay!
