Thinking of getting some and wan't to know what they are like to keep.
Are they hardy or fragile.
Thanks.

They are not really a beginners fish, but then they are not fragile eiether. My sister (not the most scrupulious of tank keepers) has had hers for a few months and they are going great.
They will eat most foods, but Tetra prima works well.

Thanks.
Tanks fully cycled and is a 30 gallon tank.

I think my pocket money can stretch to that.

3 x ray tetra's.
5 glowlite tetra's.
2 black neons
3 harlequins.
Haven't bought any fish for a year.
I know they need to be in groups of 6 but they all shoal and get on great together, so didn't bother increasing the shoals.

If they shoal together then it sounds ok. The smaller tetras may get out coumeted for food with the fuly grown congos, but see how it goes.

Thanks for your help I appreciate it.

my 9 go bananas for this stuff. they also look really cool under "moonlight" aka blue cold cathodes (not too bright) - almost ghostly

I want more males as they are more colourful.
Do the females look washed out.

not that i've noticed. You'll be lucky to sex them I think. generally most shops will just bag up however many you ask for. prices round here (preston lancs) cary form £2 to £8.50 per fish (all abount same size, the cheapest (pets at home) were marginally larger than elsewhere). average is around £4
