Any Water Left ?

Couldn't resist this. Found it on another website.

"I have 2 Gibbiceps in a 120 liter tank. I got the first one about 10 years ago when it was about 5 cm long. It is now about 30-32 cm long. I inherited a second about 3 months ago, which is about 15 cm long. They share the tank with 4 Synodontis, 5 small Ancistrus, 4 Corydoras, as well as a variety of community fish."

yes, that really is ....

1 x 30cm long Gibbiceps (massively stunted, no doubt)
1 x 15cm gibbiceps
4 x synodontis
5 x ancistrus
4 x corys
plus a "variety" of other community fish. .... all in a 120 litre tank !!!

Couldn't believe what I was reading. Made me rather angry too. One of the worst cases of overstocking i have ever heard of.

it is bad, but why post it?

it will just get everyone angry, and at the end of the day there is nothing we can do about it, there are probably hundreds of thousands of people who overstock there tanks just as bad or worse then this, the majority of us on tff know about stocking tanks. It is pointless singling out one of probably thousands of ignorant people

you are obviously passionate about fish but there are better things to discuss on this forum.

I posted it because it was so extreme.

Thank you for pointing out how pointless my post was although, who knows, someone else may have found that it had some merit or interest.

I know what the point of posting it is!

I don't know about anyone else, but pretty much everyone else around me since I've been into this properly is bored of hearing about it. When things like that overstocking occur they don't care and they also simply don't get why it's bad. I had my boss suggest about 10 days ago that the reason my fish were sick (when I thought they were) is coz "I spent all those weeks putting Ammonia in my tank every day". For someone who's into tropical fish I actually think this forum is an absolute haven, where you'll always find people who are interested in something good/bad/exciting that you just discovered or thought of.

So it's kinda bad really when someone makes you feel like you should shut up even on here!

Stocking like this really winds me up, its like converting the "box room" into a studio flat with kitchen/lounge/bathrrom all added and then telling the occupant they cannot go outside of this room ever... And then adding severl other occupants!

A while ago I saw a 4ft tank for sale, labelled clown loach paradise .... complete with 50 clown loaches, 3 plecos and a few catfish. More like clown loach hell I would suggest.

Stupid me was even going to buy it to rehome the clowns in suitable tanks but the bloke evidently just couldn't bear to part with his tank and fish so those poor little (big! - some he said were 11"+) fish are still in that tank.

The photo on the listing was just a mass of orange, I don't know how they moved at all
