Hi,

  • The video above, shows my small pond setup which has a black, orange, yellow and 2 red mollies with a lot of FRY.
  • There is a home made filter and a biofoam filter. Both of these are ON for almost all days of week (except for an hour or two of electric power failure which happens once or twice in a week).
  • I feed the fish, the readymade fish food twice daily.
  • The FISH are doing quite good as they are very active and they appear to be swimming on the surface as well as at the bottom without any problem.

Now my query: In the month of December I will be out of town for at least 7 days. I need to know if there is some way I can ensure that fishes can be fed regularly, automatically or naturally.

Is there some auto-feeder kind of a thing available which I can use?
Since the pond has only mollies, is there a plant that I can put in that mollies eat?

Any suggestions are really welcome. This would be a great help. I want my fishes to stay healthy even in my absence.

P.S. A day before leaving I will ensure cleaning the pond and a 20% - 30% water change which I usually do every 2 weeks.

Thanks!!

They will eat algae and any insects that land on the water. Healthy fish can easily go up to two weeks or longer without food.

I wouldn't add duckweed unless you really want it; once you have it, you have it forever. Your fish will perfectly fine for a week or even two, especially as they're outside.

Thanks guys. If the fish are going to be fine for 7 days without food its great. Thanks for the help.
