I just bought a beautiful little cichlid - it was by itself in a tank full of black widows so I rescued it.

It was sold as a shell dweller and it does spend most of the day in or by the side of it's little shell .
the fish is about 1" long with a sort of a dull neon horizontal stripe.

Very interesting and beautiful !!

Any ideas or information ??

Thanks.

I would post this in the old world cichlid forum, you should get more replies/info there.

Do you have any pics? This would help with id and once we figure out which kind of fish it is, then we can help you on how to take care of it.

Thanks !

It appears to be one of these 'Lamprologus' ocellatus (Zambian Blue).

Sorry to advise that this little fellow has been eaten by my 6" Red Tail Black Shark !!!!!!

The SHARK has been no trouble for years whilst being the BOSS but about a week ago I added a dozen little ADLER guppies which vanished over two nights - I had my suspicians about SHARKEY but now I am sure as I saw him take a bite out of the shell dweller yesterday .
Looks as though he got the taste of blood !

Anyway SHARKEY was part exchanged for a BABY Red Tail Black Shark today :)
