Sounds like the med helping out but as soon as you stop the med it comes back again.
You really need an antibiotic but not available in the uk only from a vet.
Plus the betta will be getting used to the interpet med and will stop working completely.

Wilder - went to see my local fish shop and the guys have always been great with thier advice. They sold me some under the counter meds they had from the States. I have to put 1 tablet in my tank the do a half change of warter on the 4th day then repeat. I have also told to bath him for 45 mins in 10 litres with 1 of these tablets no longer 45 mins. But as ugly says it may not help. He still is acting as normal swimming fine and feeding.
