Not the Lunar Wrasse is it? The marking looks very similar, although I've only glanced at them moving quickly at the LFS.

im not sure, pics that i can find dont look like it

ill look for some more

cheers

All the lunar wrasses (wrassii?? ) I have seen have similar striped markings, but only on their head. The strips are closer and thinner as well.

hmm, yeah the stripes go all over the body on this one (not very clear in the pic)

ill try get a better ne tomorow

I did see the pinkface wrasse on there last night too, but figured the pattern was too different. Its possible that juveniles differ from adults, so its still a possibility.

cheers :D

thats the one that looks most like it,

ill have a bit more of a look :)

cheers :)

i found it in an encyclopedia exactly same colourings and markings etc, its not a pink face wrasse i dont think

it was listed as macropharyngodon cyanoguttatus or blue spotted wrasse, but an internet search brings up lots of other wrasses, it said in the book grows to 12cm and min tank size 100L

im gonna double check the encyclopedia tomorow to check i looked at the right info!!!

Looks to me like one of the many "Christmas Wrasses", one of which is a Halichoeres and as such a good choice for aquaria. If it does turn out to be a Macropharyngodon it would be best to observe it eating before taking it home, that is if you wanted to.

thanks :D

i can't have that particular one, as it isn't for sale, but i wanted to find out what it was so i could order one in :)

and it is feeding, i feed it every morning lol

thanks for the help

You could sprinkle some fine sand into the tank... get them to adhere to the fish... and shout "OMG the fish has whitespot.... but don't panic.... I can quarantine it at home" :D

Remove fish - place in tank at home - Then after a few weeks.. you can say.... "The poor little fella didn't make it" :(

:sly: Oh yes... I'd be that devious!!

Yeah, appears to be a Macropharyngodon genus wrasse to me judging by body shape and fin size/orientation.
