Any Idea What They Are Made Out Of?

ok i am trying to find out what the little dark coloured balls that sit in the bottom of the floating thermometers are made of and are they toxic

my lovely little turtle sid has just bit the bottom off his and spilled the balls all over the tank. the fish that live with him have gobbled a lot, as did he, so now im panicing incase they are poisonous.


any ideas anyone?
ive pulled out as many as i could but there were hundreds of the buggers and they have rolled everywhere!

It was probably an alcohol filled thermometer if it had the grains in the bottom. Not sure exactly what they are though, sorry.


Have you tried e-mailing the manufacturer?

i dont know who makes them i think by the time i get a reply, i will know if they were toxic or not.
just doing a water change as its gone very cloudy.
