I think these are both neat and unusual shapes....what do you think they might be? I'm not sure about buying driftwood. A little scared of my water turning brown and chemicals or things that could be on them...what do you think about that?

as long as they are soaked in water for IMO a week then all the tannin sould come out. fill a bucket with boling water place the wood inside to soak, leave for a day if the water turn brown empty the bucket and refill the bucket with boling water. and then repeat the process until the water stays clear.

if you to ensure no chemicals are on them boil them in a pot for an hour or so. Then keep them in a bucket and change up all the water daily for a week, this will ensure that most (like 80-90%) of the tannis that can be leeched is already gone before it goes into your tank, the carbon in the filter should take care of the rest.

Thanks, What about it lowering the PH for my tank? My tank will be brackish?

Does it matter what type of drift wood it is?

Doesn't really matter the type of drift wood, but it shouldn't drastically change the Ph of your tank providing that you don't have loads of tannins in the water.

What kind of puffer anyways?

Glad to help, hope it helped you

That was a really interesting piece of info. I wonder what my wood is???? It's from West Virginia. The ebay gal collected it.
