I think he seems to like this bowl of his (he likes cozy stuff). He's always so curious and wandering around wondering what stuff are. Any way on letting him like me? I want him to be my best friend  :hyper: Any ways to...play with him

also, we have another tank that we used for previous fish (apparently they didn't get along too well) and do you think he would like that? This is what i have right now

which on do you think he would like more?

The first is quite a bit too small. And very shallow,. He would appreciate the second much more. I suggest without the filter though.
For your betta to be your "friend" I suggest doing your homework (if you are in school) in front of his tank. Or cooking in front of his tank if you cook. Just spend a lot of time lookign at him, and he will get used to you. I would love to see some pics of the fish/

When I first got my Beta he didnt like me at all he was healthy but really shy well this week I picked up some frozen bloodworms for my dwarf frog wow now my beta is my best friend right there whenever I go by the tank. lol

I agree with monica, putting your tank somewhere where you spend a lot of time will help. I have my betta tank next to the sofa and he definitely reacts to having the regular company.

I'd go for the bigger tank, that way you can move the decor & plants around every time you do a water change and that keeps him stimulated.

Good luck!

i used to get some of my fish leaping out the water to take food from the tip of my finger, usualy blood worms. the best was a pk female, she would jump mabey 2-3 cm straight up to take food from my fingertip. she would jumpup and try to bite me wheneven i put my hand above the water

Yeah, just try giving it a nice, popular spot where it can watch you so it won't get too bored.
And try feeding it from your finger. It comes and bites you. It tickles. =)
And the sceond tank is best. More room for him to move around in.

I always say hi to my betta, and he runs to the glass to say hi back.

Once they get used to you it's awesome.

I can hand feed my betta and he swims up to my hand when im siphoning the thank.

 I have a fish tank on each side of the computer desk where I spend time at. That I can spend time with my fish. As far as the first fish bowl that seems to small the second one is much better..

I not only have my Betta's tank on a table directly across from our bed where I can see him and wave hello to him, but I have a chair at that table and try to spend 10-15 minutes hanging out with him and talking to him. Now we're best buddies. Being with him always soothes me and makes my day!!

Re next to the computer, I thought you were supposed to put them that near to major electronic devices---that the vibrations might bother them---? Just something I heard once. I'm curious to hear what people say re this.

To make "friends" with your betta... this is my input

I feel that my fish may (and i stress the word "may") recognize familiar voice patterns in terms of familiar vibration. I have a habit of saying "Hey buddy" and "Flash?!" when i come to the tank. I've attempted some experiments with saying different things and I would say it's more in my head cuz my fish spazzes at whatever side of the tank i go to regardless of what i say. (although i can draw his attention with speaking... not sure if the wording matters)

More importantly, i made feeding a fun thing for the fish (more for me) from day one. I made sure my fish recognized me and came to the front of the tank (even when he was in the 1/2 gal) b4 i fed him. that turned into making him "beg" for food. just try little things here and there. my betta now follows my finger on the surface AND side of the tank.... jumps..... and is now learning a "backup" que so i can more easily back him into a cup for water changes (although he no longer needs water changes in his 5 gal tank). they are easy to befriend you if you make yourself (or hand) associated with food.

hope that helps a bit. a happy fish will be a friendly fish.
