As above, been looking at the likes of angels and was wondering if there are any as peaceful as angels and are suitable for a community set up with the likes of platies and gouramis and such.

Key hole Cichlids look pretty timid, as do Bolivian Rams. Would any of these be suitable?

Posted in the New world first as i don't think i'll have much luck in the African section. Am i right in thinking that they are more aggressive overall?

Bolivians would be alright, however, given the smaller tank size, I wouldn't add any other medium sized cichlids such as keyholes to the tank. Even timid cichlids are territorial, and angelfish are more aggressive than their reputation suggests

Thanks for the help, i'm not sure i'm going to go with the cichlid set up just yet. Have to research many things before i make a decision (better safe than sorry right?). I doubt i would have two species of cichlid. would rather have the one species that could mix with community fish like tetras, female guppies or gouramis of some sort.

The reason i asked about the cichlids was because i'm fairly certain they would not be eaten by my featherfin syno who likes to eat very small fish for snacks unfortunately. White clouds and neon tetra sized fish. He's not aggressive, just eats them when the lights are out. anything platy/female guppy sized he doesn't go near.

Angels are cichlids. When spawning, they will often try to kill anything else in the tank.

keyholes would be a great choice for a community fish, they're docile and shy, and will appreciate the company of most tetras and other less boisterous schooling fish. IMO, they'd make a better choice than angels.

Keyholes look interesting, as do bolivian rams. Look like nice little characters, i'm going to have a good look at them in the next few weeks and find out about them.
