I wuz wondering if a Green Mandarin would be ok with a CBS? Would seem like a risky prospect to me....Thanks

Don't like CBS's...at least in a nano tank. They can corner fish. SH

Boxer shrimps are one of my fav shrimp.. however i would not risk anything in a tank hnaer them. i got a 7ft reef tankand i still dont think my stock is safe with one in the tank :-(

i agree. i wish i would of researched them alot more before i bought one. it kept molting and molting to the point that i had to hand feed it every day so that it would not go after my fish. as far as keeping other shrimp forget about it. i have almost 150 pounds of live rock and they still couldnt keep away from him. go with a red blood shrimp, cleaner shrimp ect if you really want a shrimp.

Why did you have to hand feed it because of it molting?
Not sure, but I just thought he was using the "molting" to allude to the fact that the shrimp was growing rapidly and he was hand feeding to keep up with its appetite.....

i meant that yes due to its size, that I had to hand feed it so that it would not go after my other fish, shrimps ect. the problem in that though.. more feeding equals more molting, growth, which in turn made him more hungry for things i did not want to him to eat.

its almost like he turned into a crayfish. he would stand on top of the live rock with his two arms spread ready to pounce. when something or someone would either swim by or crawl by he would pounce.

needless to say i no longer have him.

Molting does not always mean growth, even after shrimp get to there maximum size they will still molt. Molting has more to do with available nutrients in the water, iodine has a big role in molting, stress does to.

But in his case it was growing rapidly, and as a result it was molting alot. but mandarins are slow and not cautious, so if they don't taste to bad for the shrimp to want to eat then they will be shrimp food.
