Another (yes I Said Another) Compatability Question

What is are some good fish that are compatible with An Oscar and Jackdempsy , and u could find easily in ur LFS?




(Cichlids in particuler. Nothing like Balasharks etc.)


Give me some combinations

how big do Jewel Cichlids get? I saw one in a LFS and it was kept in a tank of German Blue Rams, Platies, Red fox(or flying fox i think it is called)

around 6" maybe less

With a JD and an oscar you're going to be hard pushed to find a cichlid that'll settle right in with them, there's a good chance they wont accept one. It depends on how long you've had them or whether you're yet to get them all?

In a 120g, with two big cichlids, I'd just go for some nice dithers - some silver dollars, or maybe a group of clown loaches...but you said you didn't want to know about them lol.

I didn't get the Oscar or The JD yet. But I really want those two. How about a Jaguar Cichlid? Will it work?

nah jag is farr to aggressive for the oscar and poss Jd. i said Jewel cichlids because there fiesty, fast and nice looking so will mix with your oscar and jd perfectly.

Jags need a species tank as they will kill anything else (if not initially, at adulthood), and you could only keep one or a breeding pair at max, and that would be too much in your tank (they get very very big). You'd need at least a 180g for a pair, I'd think (although I'd check with the "experts")

How about an Arowana( I think that's how it's spelled ). I heard that they r aggressive, so they'll probably fit in snugly with the the other 2... right?

Not guaranteed to work and Arrowana's need a min of a 6x2x2 tank so your 120 gal won't quite cut it i'm afraid. Any additional cichlids with an Oscar and a JD would be a big risk, indeed the O and JD may not get along. You really would be better looking at large, robust non cichlids for tankmates.
