Another Transporting Fish Question

Will be moving house this week. Ideally I don't want to be breaking down my tank on the move day as I will be setting off at 7am and would mean having to be up for 5am to do it. Will my fish survive being bagged up the night before?

They would be bagged up for 15 hours maximum before being back in the tank at my new place.

that should be fine i had gold laser corys bagged up for 24 hours before i got them home and into my tank and they are fine

Depending on how many fish you have, you could consider a stack of cheap plastic buckets in which you could run some airstones with them during the last night, then bag them in the morning, put the bags in the coolers, stack the buckets for receiving drip acclimations at the other end, deal with your move and drive off. Be sure to put more air into the bags even than the water volume.

Hi Acara Man

If you bag them up with 1/3 water and 2/3 air, the water will absorb some oxygen from the air. Keep them in the dark to keep them calm and don't feed them the day before the move. This will reduce the amount of waste they produce while in the bags.

Good luck with your move. If there is any way you can get the tank moved ahead of anything else it's well worth the effort to do so.

Yes, and one thing that's on your side is that the sloshing of the transportation will actually be a good thing from the oxygen standpoint.
