i made a post the other day asking about a 535 litrle tank and wether it woudl be big enough for fronts, after soem mroe research and thinking and bad press about the particular site. i think im deffo gonig to go with the vision 450 with cabinet etc in black. my question is again would this be adequate for fronts and how many? also where are the cheapest places to get them? ive found some for 644quids with cabinet which i think is very cheap. i would be ripping out the original juwel filter and replacing it with the fx5 external.

thanks luke.

Adult Frontosa can reach 12inches or more in length. Generally if you have a male and a couple of females, they will need at least 400litres of water when they mature. Most people keep them in tanks that are 6x2x2ft or bigger.

If you are limited to space, then perhaps get a double tier stand and have two tanks, one above the other. You can connect the two tanks via some tubing and a pump and this will give you more water volume. You set them up as a display tank with the fish in (the top tank), and a sump or reservoir (the bottom tank). Info on this type of set up can be found in the marine section under trickle filters and sumps.
You will still be limited to the number of fish you can have due to the tank size, but you will have more water and that will be easier to keep clean and to keep the fish healthy. Just make sure the floor is strong enough to support the weight.

how big is the tank, I don't know anything about the Vision450.

Juwel Vision 450 Aquarium (for collection or North West delivery only)
Measuring 151cm length x 61cm wide x 64cm high.

Capacity: 450 litres.

I know you can keep 10 adults in a standard 125gal tank, measurements on that are 182.8 x 45.7 x 58.4cm. So, while your tank would be a bit shorter, it's a little wider, I'd err on the side of caution and stick with 6-8 adults, and I'd probably only have 1 male. :good:

3-4 adult frontosa would be ok in the Juwel Vision 450. I wouldn't keep any more than that tho because they just get too big.
You might need to buy a group of young fish, (6-10 small frontosa) and grow them up. As they mature you can seperate the males and keep one nice male and a couple of females. Then get rid of the rest.

yeah thats what the plan is i dont intend to keep 10 fully grown hufe fronts in a tank. i was initially going to buy 10 and then keep one male n all the females and get rid of the other males.

thanks for the help =]
