these are the fish i like the look of.

Bearing in mind...

66L tank with gravel substrate in the lounge on show
70L tank with sand substrate in my bedroom (for less fish..but the bigger ones)
60L tank with gravel substrate in the kitchen (eventually will go in Son's bedroom, he likes mollies)

Not sure about the last four but the others are all peaceful as far as I'm aware and can mix with each opther provided they don't fit in each others mouths. The fighter could be extreamily variable with the individual- some won't take any tank mates at all others could go with just about anything so long as they are peaceful and won't attack the fighter. I've heard similar with the dwarf gouramis.

EDIT- just noticed you say you only have sand in one of the tanks- I'd build this one around the cories as thats what they prefure but to be honest cories don't limit your choices too much any way.

Your list of fish contains some non-compatable groups in trerms of temperature requirements...

• Panda Corydoras and Hilstrom (Hillstream?) Loaches need cooler water than most of your list, typically <21C
• Sterba Cory, Agassizi Apistos, Forktail Rainbows and Siamese Fighting Fish need warmer conditions than most of your list, at least 24C

In my experience, siamese fighters are hit and miss. Some get along with other fish great and completely ignore them, others will attack & kill other fish. I've had ones go well with neons, and ones that would kill practically anything you put in there with him (didn't try a great variety of tankmates, but he seemed pretty agressive). Larger shrimp and snails are usually virtually guaranteed to be alright with them, though even large shrimp can sometimes be threatened by them.

However as a general rule, no significantly brightly coloured fish, no long-finned fish, no other fish from the same family, and definitely no males with other males (though females can be kept together with success if introduced properly).

If you wanted, you could try their reaction with the cories - aside from the obvious, they would also be in completely different "zones" in the tank (with the cories spending most of their time on the bottom, and the betta near the top as they breath air). If he isn't too agressive, you should be OK.

well i have got 3 tanks..so they would be set at different temperatures..

in tank 1 i was thinking the smaller brightly coloured fish
tank 2 i was thinking the corys, rainbows, betta, apistos
tank 3 i was thinking corydora's, loaches with a few plattys
would this work?
