I have currently

5 Neons
5 Harlequins
1 Female Platy
1 Male Guppy

I know that the platy should have a friend and I think that applies to the guppy, am I able to have companions for my platy/guppy or should I get rid of them and get another small shoal??

I currently have a Rekord 60 tank which is 54 litre/12 (ish) gallons

Thanks

hello,
it all depends on what "getting rid of them" means, if it means taking them back to the shop or giving them to a good home then i would and get 5 lemon tetras or a group of another tetra

well, i have a rekord 60 too and its about 14 gallons(60 litres),
platies and guppies like their own company so i would suggest either taking one back and getting one of the other(e.g take back the guppy and get another platy)try to get the same sex if you dont want fry, even is fry is born they will be mostly eaten before they get bigger if left in the tank.neons and Harlequins dont produce much waste but juwel filters are their best so i would be careful about stocking levels, i would keep the shoals but wouldn't add another, either replace one livebear with the other or buy another 2 or 3 of each of your shoals fish to make them bigger and get rid of both livebears ,your choice tho.

For a 12 gallon, I would be happy with just the 5 neons and 5 harlequins. The tank is too small for platies and/or guppies along with the other two groups. If it was a tank devoted to fry that would be okay. But with the way it is, I'd rehome the platy and guppy.
